Dr. Philip Travis graduated from Mississippi College in Clinton, MS with a Chemistry degree before joining the Army Reserves allowing him to attend the University of Mississippi Medical School. After graduating Magna Cum Laude in 1981 he entered active duty receiving his training in Internal Medicine at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas before serving at Martin Army Hospital Fort Benning, Ga, as Chief of the Internal Medicine Clinic. He returned to Brooke Army Medical Center where he completed his residency in Nephrology. The final years of military service were as staff Nephrologist at Fitzsimons Army Medical Center in Aurora, CO.
Dr. Travis joined Nephrology Associates on Mobile, P.A. in 1990. He is board certified in both Internal Medicine and Nephrology. He was on the End Stage Renal Disease Network 8 Board of Directors serving as Chairman in 1996-1999. In Mobile he was on the Board of Health 2001-2003 serving as Chairman in 2002 while serving on the Board of Censors of the Medical Society of Mobile.
He participates in all aspects of general Nephrology practice with special interest in home dialysis therapies. In the Home Therapies clinic he serves as coordinator.
He enjoys gardening with his wife, hunting, and introducing his grandchildren to the great outdoors.
